On September 22, Hawke and co-star Jeanne Tripplehorn surprised fans at the iconic Canter’s Deli, serving slices of pie and pouring coffee in celebration of their new FX series The Lowdown. The treats, inspired by “Sweet Emily’s” diner from the show, were handed out by the actors themselves as fans packed in for the chance to be served by the stars.

Later that night, the celebration continued at Brain Dead Studios, where guests attended a special screening of the pilot episode. Afterward, Hawke and series creator Sterlin Harjo joined The Ringer’s Watch Podcast for a live recording moderated by Chris Ryan. The conversation dove into Hawke’s role as bookstore owner Lee Raybon and Harjo’s creative process in bringing the Tulsa-set noir to life.

The Lowdown follows Raybon, a self-proclaimed “truthstorian” obsessed with exposing corruption in Tulsa, whose latest investigation drags him deep into a web of secrets tied to the powerful Washberg family. The eight-episode series premieres September 23 on FX and streams the next day on Hulu.
