QUICK TAKE

  • Tin Man time: 5 hours → 2.5 hours thanks to team synergy.

  • Designed by Oscar-winning legends Mark Coulier & Frances Hannon.

  • The prosthetic allowed full facial mobility (rare for metal SFX builds).

  • Ethan slept through most of it — relatable king.

  • “It was crazy,” he said — and honestly, the results prove it.

Ethan Slater stopped by SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up and gave fans a peek behind the curtain at what it really took to become “Wicked: For Good’s” Tin Man — and yes, the glam process was intense.

During the chat with hosts Nicole Ryan, Ryan Sampson, and Stanley T, Ethan revealed that his full prosthetic transformation originally took nearly five hours, crafted by Oscar-winning makeup legend Mark Coulier (the genius behind The Iron Lady, Grand Budapest Hotel) and designer Frances Hannon.

The wild part?

By the end of the shoot, the team had the full Tin Man look down to about two and a half hours — a miracle in prosthetics world.

Even crazier: despite the heavy FX makeup, Ethan shared that he could still control every tiny expression.

“I looked totally different, but I could still control every muscle in my face. The design was brilliant.”

And yes — the five-hour glam routine came with challenges (as any prosthetic actor will tell you), but Ethan kept it classy, focusing on how skilled, thoughtful, and supportive the team was throughout filming.
