Leonardo DiCaprio is already in awards-season beast mode. The ceremony takes place January 3, 2026, kicking off the festival’s star-studded week (January 2–12). Kering will present the event, with Entertainment Tonight as sponsor.
Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised Leo for delivering a “riveting, emotionally charged performance” as Bob — a washed-up revolutionary hunting for his missing daughter (played by rising breakout Chase Infiniti) while confronting the damage of his past. The cast also includes Sean Penn, adding even more prestige heat.
This particular award is a proven precursor: past recipients like Cillian Murphy, Matthew McConaughey, Daniel Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody and more went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor. Others — Bradley Cooper, Riz Ahmed, Andrew Garfield, Colin Farrell — secured nominations in their winning years.
Leo joins a 2026 honoree lineup already boasting Michael B. Jordan (Icon Award), Adam Sandler (Chairman’s Award) and the cast of Sentimental Value for the International Star Award.
