Prime Video just released the first look at Scarpetta, the long-awaited adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels — and Nicole Kidman looks chillingly perfect as Dr. Kay Scarpetta.
The new series brings Cornwell’s legendary medical examiner to screen for the first time, with Kidman playing Scarpetta as she hunts a serial killer while trying to prove that the career-making case from 28 years ago won’t also be the one that destroys her.
Developed and written for television by Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost), the show unfolds across two timelines: late-’90s Scarpetta as a rising Chief Medical Examiner, and present-day Scarpetta returning home to reclaim her old job and face a brutal new murder — plus a lot of old ghosts.
